Summary: In Thousand Plateaus (1980), Felix Guattari and Gilles Deleuze draw on ethology (the study of animal behaviour) and biosemiotics to explain the continuity between animal and human rituals: how rituals are used to control and redirect aggression, mark and protect territory. The philosophers refer to the experiments of the German psychiatrist Wolfgang Blankenburg, who treated schizophrenic patients by teaching them Baroque dances in which the distance between dancers is particularly important. The article traces parallels between these theoretical conceptions of baroque dances and the practical methods of “The New York Baroque Dance Company”, which since the 1970s seeks to reconstruct dances and ballet techniques of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Keywords: baroque, ethology, Jakob von Uexküll, Wolfgang Blankenburg, Norbert Elias, early music, historically informed performance, choreographic reconstructions

Summary: The portraits of friends fr om Montparnasse by Marevna may be a key to insights regarding the study of the School of Paris. The graphic and pictorial works by the artist in combination with her memoirs have great cultural and historical value. They provide a new view not only on Marevna’s stylistic search but also on the organization of the daily life in Montparnasse. In spite of the artistic and memorial significance of the artist’s heritage, there are a number of historiographical lacuns. In particular, no attempt has been made to study Marevna’s portrait work in all its variety. In this article the principle of the tipologisation of the portraits of the montparnos is developed. For this purpose, a wide range of portraits are presented and categorized; some subjects portrayed are identified; stylistic features of the portraits and the main techniques that Marevna preferred are highlighted.

Summary: The article is devoted to the study of the representation of melancholy as a theme in the French figurative art of the middle of the 20th century, namely in the works of artists of the Second School of Paris, such as Bernard Buffet (1928-1999), Jean Hélion (1904-1987), Francis Gruber (1912-1948), André Marchand (1907-1997). In their work, interest in a person and in the everyday life surrounding him was especially manifested. The purpose of the article is to study the specifics of the representation of melancholy based on the analysis of the works of French figurative art of the mid-20th century. To do this, the author will turn to the existing iconography in order to compare how the artists of the middle of the 20th century follow the tradition in depicting melancholy. In addition, the work reveals distinctive features in the representation of melancholy through a comparison of paintings with literary and philosophical texts that describe the sensations of melancholy at that time. The author comes to the conclusion that the depiction of melancholy becomes a tool for conveying the image of a contemporary who is faced with strong existential upheavals in an era of great historical events.

Summary: In the Late Soviet years, there was a feeling of the collapse of many former creative attitudes and traditions, the destruction or withering away of the ethical and aesthetic values of the Soviet era, which was perceived as the collapse of artistry itself in its substantive and formal aspects. The blurring of the boundaries between realities and the absence of stable temporary “anchors” characterize the aura of film substance. The concept of “Ghost City” was developed on the material of the Late Soviet films “City Zero”, “The Museum Visitor” and “Days of Eclipse”. Fragmentary states, confusion of consciousness and the loss of a sense of a solid firmament under their feet, a solid system of values and spiritual guidelines are also observed in the heroes of the films. There is a throwing between the fictional heroes of reality and real everyday life. The image of the “ghostly” city is characterized, first of all, by the abstractness of its geographical coordinates and the narrative model of the hive, which absorbs the arriving stranger deeper and deeper into itself.

Summary: Textiles, as a complex system object, actively and diversely interact with the environment. The information field of textiles accommodates a wide range of issues. The purpose of the article is to present the object of study in the form of an information system that reflects its development as the acquisition of new qualitative characteristics. To solve the problem, the author chose the method of “Finite Information Flow” (FIL) of the system-categorical methodology. Categorical schemes and models make it possible to identify the qualitative characteristics of objects. The FIL method makes it possible to create a visual image of the information flow that characterizes the appearance of certain properties or qualities in the object under study. They are described on the basis of the parameters “logical lim it” (LLt), “transformability” (T), “logic level” (LLv). The construction of an information model makes it possible to identify the main purposes of the object of study and the qualitative characteristics associated with them, which will bring closer to understanding the essence of textiles as a subject of arts and crafts.
